This hydrophilic polymer can be used to prepare aqueous solutions with different densities (up to about 1.2 g/ml), which are used for the isolation of cells or subcellular particles. The appropriate density of the BioColl® separation solution is selected depending on the particle type. A density of 1.077 g/ml is ideal for the isolation of lymphocytes.
