Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate is a metabolite involved in protein geranylgeranylation. Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate is the common precursor of  diterpenoids, for example, Paclitaxel. Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate can be used for cancer research[1].
