Anti-CA IX antibody

CA IX is a protein encoded by the CA9 gene which is approximately 49,6 kDa. CA IX is localised to the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is involved in CDK-mediated phosphorylation and removal of Cdc6, nitrogen metabolism, angiogenesis and glucose metabolism. It is a zinc metalloenzyme that catalyses the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. It participates in a variety of biological processes, including respiration, calcification, acid-base balance, bone resorption, and the formation of cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid. CA IX is expressed in the intestine, stomach, gall bladder and kidney. Mutations in the CA9 gene may result in kidney cancer and hypoxia. STJ96978 was developed from clone 12F10 and was affinity-purified from mouse ascites by affinity-chromatography using specific immunogen. This antibody detects endogenous CA IX proteins.
